What is Live Illustration?
My take on live illustration is the art of creating watercolour paintings as keepsakes to be treasured by your guests, whatever the event. My painting services will add that little bit of extra joy to your special day, and give your guests something memorable to take away and be treasured forever. These aren’t caricatures, these are fashionable likenesses that aim to flatter and impress the recipient.
As a live illustrator, I come to your event and set up 45 minutes before I’m due to begin painting. Guests can come and have their picture taken quickly, then mingle and enjoy the celebrations while I get to work creating their beautiful portraits. When they’re ready, the guests can come and collect their paintings, all nicely packaged and delivered in a protective seal.

Post-event illustrations

Didn’t get everyone illustrated on the day? After you’ve had a chance to soak in the beauty of your event, you can send over images of anyone who wasn’t illustrated on the day and it will be completed in my studio and posted to you within three weeks.
Polaroid Party
£5 per guest
We love a good Polaroid at Blank Canvas Studios. We are now introducing an exciting add-on! Alongside a bespoke illustration, each guest who is painted will receive a polaroid to take home and keep forever.

Frame it!
£7 per guest
Your guests can now take home their illustration with a beautiful frame so they won’t have to worry about finding one at a later date. Frames come in black, gold and white, and are available for you to purchase in advance of the day.
Illustrated Place Cards
£10 per guest
Want a special upgrade to make your day even better? We offer hand painted place cards with a head and shoulders or full body. Let the picture do the talking. illustration of all your guests. Makes for a perfect suprise for all your guests
How many illustrations can you do per hour?
The amount of illustrations that I can complete per hour varies depending on a few factors such as the complexity of outfits, poses and even how talkative your guests are! As a guideline, I aim to complete 6-8 individuals per hour but that can fluctuate depending on the factors listed above.
Does the time I’ve booked include set up and pack down?
No. I arrive 45 minutes before the proposed time to set up and get myself settled for the illustrations. I also pack down which normally takes about 10-15 minutes or so.
Do you need access to power, wifi or water?
Yes, I need access to all of the above in order to complete the illustrations for you.
Why don’t you paint faces?
Yes, I need access to all of the above in order to complete the illustrations for you.
Do you travel abroad?
Yes! I love a destination wedding and would be delighted to paint at your wedding abroad. For this, I would require accommodation and travel to be covered.
FAQs
What size are the illustrations?
The illustrations are completed on A6 300 GSM watercolour card.
Can you complete additional paintings after the day?
Of course! If more guests would like illustrations and it exceeds the time you have booked me for as well as the minimum of 8 individuals per hour, I can certainly take those home and mail them to you at an extra cost of £10 per illustration.
Do you paint the Bride and Groom?
Absolutely! That’s one of my favourite parts. Because it’s your day, I’ll take my time with your portraits and you’ll get a beautiful illustration in the post after the event. The size will depend on the package you choose.
Do you provide your own materials?
I provide my own high quality artist materials and signage. All I need you to provide is a decent sized table, water, wifi and power. I’ll take care of the rest!
